Eligibility for Filipino nationals

There is no nationality bar that singles out Filipino nationals. The Active Investor Plus visa is built around the investment itself, alongside health and character requirements set by Immigration New Zealand. A successful applicant can include a partner and dependent children in the application.

Because the route depends on placing and maintaining a large qualifying investment for a set period, the practical question for most Filipino applicants is funding and the source of those funds, which must be lawful and documented. Confirm the current character, health and funds rules with Immigration New Zealand.

Routes

Since 1 April 2025 the visa has two investment categories. The Growth category centres on direct investment in New Zealand businesses and managed funds and is held for a shorter minimum period. The Balanced category allows a wider mix that can include lower risk assets and is held for a longer minimum period.

From 1 June 2026, Immigration New Zealand allows part of a Growth category investment to go toward approved philanthropic contributions, with eligibility conditions that apply to both categories. Confirm the latest acceptable investment types before you commit, since the approved list changes.

Timeline

There is no citizenship on day one. This is a residency route, with investment held across a multi year minimum period. Processing time for the visa itself depends on the completeness of the file and verification of funds. Confirm current processing times with Immigration New Zealand.

Costs

The defining cost is the qualifying investment, which is substantial. Government fees, professional fees and the cost of structuring and moving funds are separate and additional. The figures below are the headline investment minimums. Confirm fees and the current minimums with the official authority.

What it leads to

The Active Investor Plus visa grants New Zealand residency for those who meet and maintain the conditions. A path from residency toward citizenship exists in New Zealand law and depends on meeting separate residence and presence requirements over time. Confirm those separate citizenship rules before relying on them.
