Reviewed by the Passports for Kings editorial team. Last reviewed 3 June 2026.
Early in 2026 the Board of Investment revised eligibility for several Long Term Resident categories, and the Privilege Card continued to run a promotional entry tier alongside its standard tiers.

What changed

For the Long Term Resident visa, the Board of Investment revised qualifying criteria for several categories early in 2026. For the Wealthy Global Citizens category, the previous personal income test was reported removed, while the asset and Thailand investment tests stayed in place. For the Work from Thailand Professionals category, the employer revenue threshold was reported lowered and the prior work experience requirement removed. The Highly Skilled Professionals category also saw the work experience requirement removed and its scope widened. A previous cap on the number of dependents was reported lifted.

The Privilege Card programme, renamed from Thailand Elite in 2023, kept its restructured tiers. A lower cost promotional entry tier introduced in late 2024 was reported extended into 2026. Confirm current availability before applying.

Current rules

The Privilege Card is a membership product. You pay a one time fee for a fixed term and receive long stay privileges, with tiers that range from a shorter promotional option up to a long validity invitation tier. The Long Term Resident visa is a separate route administered by the Board of Investment, issued for up to ten years across two blocks, with annual reporting once a year in place of the standard ninety day reporting.

Because the Board of Investment refined several thresholds in 2026, confirm the current asset levels, investment amounts and category conditions with the official authority before acting. For the Privilege Card, confirm the current tier list and fees with the programme operator.

What to watch

Board of Investment announcements can be refined after first release, so watch for updated guidance on the Wealthy Global Citizens and Work from Thailand categories. Tax treatment of foreign income remitted to Thailand is a separate area worth monitoring.

For the Privilege Card, watch the end date on any promotional tier, since these offers carry their own deadlines. Verify the current position with the official authority.
