Oman launched its Golden Residency programme on 31 August 2025, with two investor tiers.

What changed

Oman opened a long term residency route for foreign investors. The Golden Residency programme launched on 31 August 2025 and offers renewable permits in two tiers, a five year permit and a ten year permit.

Earlier investor residency in Oman was tied closely to a company or a local sponsor. The new framework lets a qualifying investor hold residency in their own right and extend it to close family.

Current rules

The five year permit is open to applicants who invest at least OMR 250,000, for example by buying real estate of that value or investing in an Omani company. The ten year permit is open to applicants who invest at least OMR 500,000, or who establish a company that employs at least 50 Omani nationals.

Permits are renewable while the qualifying conditions are still met, and they extend to a spouse, children and dependent parents. A government fee of OMR 551 applies to the golden permit, with further charges for medical testing, health insurance and document attestation.

What to watch

Approval rests with the Royal Oman Police after review by Invest Oman, and the figures and lists of qualifying assets can be updated. Confirm the current amounts, the accepted asset classes and the fee schedule with the official authority before you commit funds.
