The programme was restructured into tiers. Figures below reflect current published guidance and should be confirmed with the official authority, as conditions have been revised several times.

Overview

Malaysia My Second Home, known as MM2H, is a renewable residence pass that lets approved foreign nationals and their dependants live in Malaysia on a long term basis. It is not a citizenship route.

The programme is promoted by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, while approvals and visa issuance involve the Immigration Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs. The scheme was revised into tiers with different deposit and property conditions.

Qualifying routes

The mainland programme is structured into tiers commonly described as Silver, Gold and Platinum, each with a higher fixed deposit and a higher minimum property purchase. There is also a separate Special Economic Zone pathway with lower thresholds.

Applicants place a fixed deposit in a Malaysian bank and buy qualifying property within a set period after approval. After conditions are met, part of the deposit may be withdrawn for approved purposes such as property, education or medical costs.

Timeline

Processing time depends on the tier and the completeness of the file. Applications are handled through a licensed agent registered with the ministry. Confirm current processing times with the official authority.

Indicative costs

Each tier sets a fixed deposit and a minimum property purchase, with longer pass validity at higher tiers. The table shows current published figures. Fees, agent costs and bank conditions apply on top. Verify every figure with the official authority before acting.

What it unlocks

A successful applicant receives a multiple entry residence pass for the duration of the tier, reported as five years for Silver, fifteen years for Gold and twenty years for Platinum, all renewable subject to conditions. The principal applicant and dependants are generally expected to spend at least 90 cumulative days per year in Malaysia.

MM2H does not lead directly to permanent residence or citizenship and does not by itself grant the right to work. Confirm what the pass allows with the official authority.
