Eligibility for this nationality

Thailand does not bar Vietnamese nationals from either programme. Vietnamese applicants can apply on the same basis as most other nationalities, subject to the financial, insurance and documentary tests for the category they choose.

Confirm current category rules, since the Board of Investment has revised the Long Term Resident criteria and continues to adjust them.

Routes

The Long Term Resident visa is a long stay visa managed by the Board of Investment, with categories that include wealthy global citizens, wealthy pensioners, professionals working from Thailand and highly skilled professionals. Each category has its own asset, income or insurance tests.

Thailand Privilege is a paid membership programme that grants the right to reside for a set term with concierge services. It does not grant the right to work. The two programmes are separate and you choose the one that fits your situation.

Timeline

The Long Term Resident visa is issued for a long term and renewed in stages if you continue to qualify. Thailand Privilege grants residence rights for the term of the membership you buy. Confirm current processing windows with the relevant authority.

Costs

Long Term Resident costs centre on meeting the asset, income and insurance tests for your category, plus government visa fees. Thailand Privilege costs centre on a one off or recurring membership fee by tier. Confirm the current figures with the official authority.
