Eligibility for this nationality

Lebanese nationals are eligible to apply. Monaco does not publish a nationality bar against Lebanese citizens. The route does carry an extra step that applies to everyone from outside the European Union.

Because Monaco coordinates its borders with France, applicants from outside the EU, including Lebanese nationals, must first obtain a French long stay visa, the Type D, from the French consulate that serves their place of residence. Without it the Monegasque application cannot proceed.

Routes

There is no purchase based citizenship route here. The path is residence. Applicants show accommodation in Monaco, sufficient funds, health cover and a clean record, then apply for the residence card.

Sufficient funds are usually demonstrated through a Monaco bank account and a reference letter from the bank. Banks set their own deposit thresholds, and several private banks set them high. Treat any single figure as a starting point and confirm directly with the bank and the authority.

Timeline

The full process, from gathering documents and securing the French long stay visa to receiving the card, commonly runs three to six months. The French visa step adds time at the start. Confirm current timelines with the official authority.

Costs

Indicative figures are below. The main commitments are the bank deposit your chosen bank requires and the cost of accommodation in Monaco, rather than a government investment fee. Confirm every figure with the bank and the official authority.

What it unlocks

Monaco residence lets you live in the Principality and use its banking and lifestyle base. The first card is temporary and valid for one year. After three years of residence an ordinary card is available, and after ten years a privileged card. Residence is not citizenship, which Monaco grants rarely and under separate rules.

Common questions

Can Lebanese citizens get Monaco residence?

Yes. There is no nationality bar against Lebanese applicants. As non EU applicants they must first obtain a French long stay visa, the Type D.

Is there a fixed investment amount?

No government investment fee sets the bar. The practical requirement is a Monaco bank deposit, set by the bank, plus accommodation and proof of funds.

Does residence lead to a Monaco passport?

Not directly. Monaco grants citizenship rarely and under separate rules. Residence gives the right to live in the Principality.
