This route is reported closed, paused or not currently available: The programme has been closed to new applications since 15 February 2023. A backlog of earlier applications continues to be processed into 2026.. We publish this page so the position is clear. Do not rely on older figures.

What changed

In February 2023 the Government agreed to close the Immigrant Investor Programme to new applications, ending Ireland's main investor residence route after about a decade. The closure did not affect existing projects or people already approved.

Since then the focus has been on processing applications that were already in the system at the point of closure. The route is not accepting new investors.

Current rules

As of 2026 the programme remains closed to new applicants. The authority continues to assess the remaining applications, and reporting indicates that decisions on the backlog have continued through 2025 and into 2026.

Because no new applications are accepted, the historic investment minimums are not a live requirement and should not be treated as a current price of entry. Anyone seeking to move to Ireland should look at other immigration permissions and confirm them with the official authority.

What to watch

The Government has signalled that a successor investment migration scheme is under consideration, with talk of stronger regional development and job creation conditions. As of the date on this page no replacement has launched and no figures are confirmed.

Watch the official authority for any announcement of a new scheme, and treat third party claims about a reopening with caution until the Government publishes the detail.

Common questions

Is the Ireland Immigrant Investor Programme open in 2026
