Hungary updated the Guest Investor Programme on 15 January 2025. The direct real estate purchase option was removed. The real estate fund and donation routes remain.

Eligibility for Indian nationals

The programme is open to nationals from outside the European Union, which includes Indian passport holders. Applicants must pass security screening and meet one of the qualifying investment routes.

Nationality alone is not a barrier.

Routes

As of January 2025 there are two main routes. An investment of at least EUR 250,000 in approved certificates of a registered real estate fund, where a large share of the fund must sit in Hungarian residential property, or a donation of EUR 1,000,000 to a public interest body. The earlier direct property purchase route was removed.

Timeline

Processing time depends on the route and document checks. Confirm the current expected timeline with the official authority.

Costs

The figures below are indicative. The fund investment must be held for at least five years. Confirm all current figures and fund approval requirements before acting.
